.8.2002 Rest day. Weather remained the same, but a little better in the evening.
.8.2002 4 ˝ h. to the moraine on the Parade glacier under Asgard. Camped on the moraine in the middle of glacier next to an old tent. There was enough water running on the glacier and there was no need to melt snow. Partly cloudy with moments of sunshine.
.8.2002 Got up at 5am. Weather – overcast, no rain, high clouds and no sun for the whole day. Climbed the Original Swiss route to the north tower of Asgard. To the beginning of the snow couloir between the 2 towers climbed without belaying. Simultaneously climbed up to the beginning of the rock. Very bad rock to the notch between the 2 towers, afterwards – nicer. (short 5.9 sections, mostly easier). 12 h. round trip from the tent.
.8.2002 Tried to climb a new route on the cliffs on the left side of the Parade glacier. Managed to climb just 1 pitch and failed to reach a prominent flake up higher (several bolts were required). Packed everything and went down to Summit lake in the afternoon. Sunny.
.8.2002 Rest day. Sunny.
.8.2002 Hiked up to the Turner glacier, 11 round trip. Sunny.
.8.2002 Rest day. Raining.
.8.2002 Rest day. Raining.
.8.2002 Rained through the night, and suddenly cleared up at 5 am. Got up too late - around 8, since we had already given up hope that the rain will stop. Too late to climb … sunny, but very windy.
.8.2002 Climbed “Arctic Wind” 5.10a/b, a new route on Mt. ? – the last summit on the chain to the left of Mt. Menhir. (see the Topo). Very nice climbing! A little bit wet under the big roof. Rappelled after reaching the top of the roof. Had to make a bivouac if we were to top out. Above the roof it looked easier for about another 3 pitches to the summit.
.8.2002– 24.8.2002 Returned to Over Lord and got picked up by a boat. Super Windy for about 3 days, but clear weather!!!
